The former Beaudesert Shire Council stated that the industrial estate would be "clean and green". LTLV wonders how this is possible if the State Government is intent on placing noxious and toxic industries within the estate? These and other industries proposed for the area are considered "hard to locate" because •· They are associated with noxious and toxic fumes which smell and are hazardous to human health. •· They are considered "high impact" because of the large amount of noise and light nuisance associated with their operation. Many are being moved to Bromleton from Narangba where they are currently causing local health concerns and have had a history of non-compliance with their license conditions. The State Government is aware that the off-site impacts of these industries cannot be controlled. It appears to be easier to relocate the industries rather than to enforce compliance with environmental conditions. From this we can only assume that the State Government is admitting that they will be giving these industries a license to pollute. To pollute our air, our water, our homes and our food. Many rural industries such as equine studs, turf farms, and beef cattle farms are currently located within the boundaries of the proposed Bromelton SDA. Should the proposed development go ahead in the proposed configuration, it is possible that these healthy rural industries will be "pushed out" due to the impacts that large quantities of heavy industrial traffic and industrial fallout will have on the viability of their business. Many will be forced by economic constraints to continue to operate with diesel particular matter and other chemical laden fallout being consumed or absorbed by their stock and turf and then trans-located to other areas. LTLV are campaigning for the full financial and social impacts of this development to be assessed prior to this development being given approval to proceed. |
